The idea of creating the Ulma Family Museum of Poles Saving Jews During World War II (MPRŻ) in Markowa emerged at the end of 2007. On 30th June 2008 the assembly of the Subcarpathian Voivodship unanimously approved a resolution to create the institution. In 2009 it was decided that the Łańcut Castle Museum would take care of the construction of the Museum. The land for the construction was donated by the local government of Markowa. The architectural design is by Mirosław Nizio. Construction of the MPRŻ, carried out by Skanska S.A., was carried out from October 2013 to October 2015. The museum was opened on 17 March 2016.
